THE FOLLOWING SIMPLE PRACTICAL EXPERIMENTS SHALL SHOW THE EFFECTS OF HEAT TRANSFER AND IF AIR CONDITIONERS WERE GOOD TO OUR HEALTH
Experiment 1
- Lay a piece of mattress flat on your bedroom floor in the morning
- In the afternoon between 2-3pm, touch the mattress and feel if the mattress has gained the heat
Note : You may place a thermometer on the mattress and read the difference

A: | Heat is gained through radiation and convection. In a double storey house, the upper floor is usually warmer as the heat is being convected through the ceiling. |
In the above case, no one could sleep on the warm mattress without first cool down the room temperature and the mattress with the help of air conditioner. It may take a while despite at night to reduce the high room temperature due to the heat gained in the afternoon.
However, one can sleep comfortably on the same mattress with a low speed fan in the afternoon of a hot sunny day as though it is after a heavy downpour if the house is insulated with TCL CELLULOSE INSULATION
Experiment 2
- Switch on the air conditioner for a bedroom measuring about 10 feet x 14 feet before sleep and connect the discharge pipe of the air conditioner to a 5 litre pail.
- Allow your 1 hp air condiioner run for 8 hours
